In the Post-Impressionist volume, children will learn about the extension of Impressionism. Post-Impressionists applied bright colors and bold strokes, with a structured approach to elicit emotion and focus on the subject feeling. Learners will explore the various subject matter and styles between four Post-Impressionist artists, examine and discuss artwork, take virtual gallery tours, and participate in fun interactive games and quizzes along with exciting activities inside their GSA art worksheets. Students will finish each lesson applying Post-Impressionism techniques to create custom artwork.
Lesson 1: Vincent Van Gogh
Students will learn a brief background of art before being introduced to the post-impressionism era. Students will examine and discuss one of the most recognized post-impressionist artists, Vincent Van Gogh, and view examples of his artwork. Students will refer to their GSA coursebook throughout the lesson and look at interesting videos. At the end of the lesson, students will apply their self-expression skills making an acrylic masterpiece with inspiration from Vincent Van Gogh.
Students must meet the following language requirements in order to take this course.

Students may be required to mirror write during the lesson.
For students currently taking an ELA program, they must currently be within ELA Standard G1 or above to participate.

Students will be using scissors and materials that can spill easily. In order to ensure that your child does not hurt themselves during class or has help available, we highly recommend that a parent or legal guardian or another trusted adult supervise your child during class.
This class requires access to a printer prior to class.
Students who participate in the class will need to download and print off the required templates or worksheets PRIOR to class.
