In the Pop Art courses, children will learn how the vibrant and visual Pop Art style is based on simple, bold images of everyday items such as animals or soup cans, painted in bright colors. Learners will explore the various types of Pop Art such as photography, painting, comic strips, and much more. During each lesson, students will discuss famous Pop Art artists, view examples of their artwork, and participate in fun learning activities in their Pop Art coursebook. To finish the lesson, learners will apply self-expression skills to make custom Pop Art masterpieces.


Students will receive their art kit and Art Program: Pop Art coursebook in the mail before the course starts!



Lesson Overview

Each Pop Art course has four lessons. During the course, students will examine and discuss famous artists amongst peers, view examples of artwork and interesting videos, along with participating in fun interactive games and quizzes. To finish each lesson, learners will apply self-expression skills using various mediums from their art kit to make unique artwork!




Art Program Course Kit

This course kit includes a special GSA Art Program coursebook based on the course you select. Workbooks are filled with fun facts, extra activities, and amazing pictures! The art kit consists of 85 pieces and has everything you need to be an artist!



Pop Art Vol 1

Students will explore the various types of Pop Art such as photography, painting, comic strips, and much more. Students will examine and discuss famous Pop Art artist Andy Warhol and view examples of his artwork and videos for additional knowledge. To finish the lesson, students will participate in fun learning activities in the GSA Pop Art coursebook. Learners will apply their self-expression skills by getting creative and making an acrylic custom Pop Art masterpiece with inspiration from Andy Warhol!



In lesson 2, students will look at another aspect of the vibrant Pop Art style. Students will examine and discuss famous Pop Art artist Yayoi Kusama and view examples of her artwork, take a virtual tour, watch short videos and participate in fun learning activities inside the GSA Pop Art coursebook. To finish the lesson, students will apply creative thinking skills to paint a watercolor Yayoi Kusama inspired Pop Art masterpiece!



Students will examine and discuss the famous Pop Art artist Roy Lichtenstein in lesson 3. View examples of his artwork, play a fun game, view exciting artwork, and participate in fun learning activities inside the GSA Pop Art coursebook! At the end of the lesson, students will get creative and produce a bold colored pencil artwork with inspiration from Roy Lichtenstein!


In lesson 4, we will focus on the Pop Art style of artist Takashi Murakami. View examples of his famous flower artwork and participate in learning GSA Pop Art coursebook activities! Get hands-on to create an oil pastel artwork like Takashi Murakami! Finish the course with a fun quiz reviewing pop art artists, new skills acquired, and the importance of art in our lives.



Pop Art Vol 2

Students will learn a brief background in art before being introduced to the various types of Pop Art like photography, painting, sculpture, and much more. Students will examine and discuss the well-known Pop Art artist David Hockney who has been creating art for over sixty years, view examples of his artwork, refer to their GSA coursebooks, and watch short video clips. To finish the lesson, students can apply their self-expression skills by making a watercolor Pop Art masterpiece inspired by David Hockney.


In lesson 2, students will look at another aspect of the vibrant Pop Art style. Students will examine and discuss pivotal female Pop Art artist Pauline Boty, learn her art approach, and view examples of her artwork. Learners will look at interesting videos and participate in exciting learning activities inside the GSA Pop Art coursebook. Towards the end of the lesson, students will create a custom oil pastel artwork with inspiration from Pauline Boty’s style!


Students will examine and discuss well-known Pop Art artist Robert Indiana in lesson 3. Learners will view examples of his unique artwork, play a fun virtual game, compare and contrast art images, and participate in exciting learning activities in the GSA Pop Art coursebook! Finish the lesson by getting creative with an acrylic pop-art artwork inspired by Robert Indiana!


In the last lesson in the Pop Art Vol.2 course, students will focus on a Pop Art artist with a vibrant style, Eduardo Paolozzi. Students will view examples of his artwork, view exciting art videos, and refer to their GSA Pop Art coursebook. Students will apply creative thinking skills to design a colored pencil collage inspired by Eduardo Paolozzi. Completing the course, learners can test their knowledge with a fun quiz reviewing pop art artists, new skills acquired, and the importance of art in our lives.
